Welcome Kieron, you’ve recently joined the business, taking on the role of Production Operative (Slitter). You’ve settled in really well, what was the reasoning behind joining PCC?
I found out they had a role coming up from a friend of mine, they were looking to expand the team a bit, and it felt like the right move. I’ve known some of the team from school, so settling in didn’t take long and getting going on the machines has been great.
I was previously working for a manufacturing company and was predominantly working in the electrical engineering side as a Depot Operative, so coming here I had some knowledge on environment.
Which of these skills have you brought into your role already?
I think when you have a trade based background it always helps with machinery and working in a production team. I’m pleased that I’ve picked up some of the bits so quickly, but that’s also down to Gary and Ben who have been training and helping me grow here quickly. I’m confident that I can run the machines I’ve been trained on to specification now. Some of the mechanical side has been easier to pick up; because of my previous experience.
What are you looking to achieve in the future at PCC?
I’ve operated two slitters so far, working with our PREMFIX™ tapes range and with some of our PPG TESLIN® products and we have a few more than that, so I’d be keen to get on some of the other machines. Every day can be a different product so learning about different requirements for each product is always good too. I’ve not been here long, but I can see a clear pathway here to achieve good things!

What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
I love spending time with my family. My partner and I have two little ones, and we spend a lot of time going on days out. Also in my spare time I enjoy going out with my mates too! I’m a big football fan too. I’d say I enjoy watching my football team, Manchester United, but I really don’t at the moment!
