For Lewis Flood, Premier Coating & Converters is in his blood. When people join the business; they become part of the PCC family.
However in this instance, Lewis truly is family. Son of Chairman Steve Flood, Lewis has been in and around the business since he was learning to walk.
He’s now sprinting ahead; following in the footsteps of his dad. However, he’s carving his own path in the labelling industry. Lewis has worked incredibly hard to bring in new business, as well as ensure the successful continuation of existing customers in the tenure as a member of PCC’s sales team as a Business Development Manager.

Outside of work, Lewis’s big passions are travelling and sports. He’s an avid skier and golfer, who’s previously worked as a ski instructor in Austria for four years. He loves to be outside and in and amongst nature.

In the office and on the road, Lewis is a warm presence who deeply cares about the business and ensuring that it thrives. He’ll mark five years as part of the sales team in 2026; we sat down with Lewis to discuss his professional journey.
Lewis, as we head to winter, how is business shaping up for you?
This time of year, like mid-summer has its ups and down’s. Generally, I see a big rush in the weeks and months leading up to December where our customers are requiring materials for all their Christmas orders. As we get towards our Christmas shutdown, it’s always a good time to reorganise and reset yourself. It’s important to look back at the year we’ve had and the future developments ahead.
Your dad is a Chairman of PCC (Steve Flood) and you’ve been in and around the business your whole life, how has it changed in recent years since you became Business Development Manager?
I have yes, I still remember my dad occasionally bringing me to the office when I was younger, seeing Debbie and Bruce, one thing that’s certainly changed is that the office has been updated a lot since I was a child! But aside from that, I’d say that the biggest change has been the diversification of our product portfolio and offerings to customers. It’s something we’ve all been working on tirelessly internally showing our new and existing customers that we have more to offer than the handful of core products we’ve been producing for over forty years.
Bringing in different ranges such as inkjet, laser printable, home compostable etc. has all been down to our internal technical team sourcing and developing these products, I’ve just had to make sure I get out on the road and tell our customers about them! Something that hasn’t changed, are the pasties at Burbidge’s bakery, they’re still as good as I remember them being when I was a boy!
Can you expand on this and tell us about one of your success stories?
One thing I’m particularly proud of is how I’ve managed to introduce companies to PCC who had never heard of us before. Now we’ve secured business with them as customers and we’re seeing growth in our trading relationships. From the beginning it was always a target for me to onboard new customers and whilst we’re still pushing forward. We now have more customers than we have ever had at PCC, which is something I’m really pleased to have been delivering.
What challenges do you foresee in the industry?
It’s interesting to me how the industry has changed so much in the short time I’ve been at PCC. From joining during Covid, we’ve collectively experienced the pandemic itself, port strikes and energy hikes, it’s been a fascinating five years to say the least. Whilst I see an element of stillness now, which I’m sure is appreciated by many, it’s been challenging to manoeuvre through some of the new environment we’ve found ourselves in within the industry. However, we’re seeing positive signs within the business and lots of new enquiries, with plenty interested in our PREMECO™ range too. We’re seeing a seismic shift in what customers are looking for, when it comes to sustainable products. So, the challenges are paying off.
What would you describe as your biggest strength?
I’d probably say my determination and tenacity to get things over the line, depending on who you ask (Bruce, he may describe it in a different way). Aside from that I’d say my organisation is a big asset for me, looking after the pool of customers I have, I have the responsibility to all of them to stay organised and on top of all the enquires.

What is the best dessert you’ve ever had, and why?
I love a chocolate orange brownie, I don’t have a big sweet tooth, but anything chocolate orange does catch my eye more than it should!
